So, I’m an Event/Floral Designer. I spend my days figuring out awesome ways to decorate reception spaces and playing with flowers. There are a lot of things that can happen that can potentially ruin an event. Pieces break, flowers wilt, you run out of tape or fishing line or ribbon or all of the above. But, Mother Nature is for sure the number one event ruiner. 

At an outdoor July wedding this year, tempuratures were so high (in the low 100s but humidity made it feel like 110) that flowers were dying, cold food was getting warm too quickly, ice was melting too fast and my event team and I spent most of our time dealing with various levels of dehydration. 

Now that August is drawing to a close, hurricane season is well under way and we get to fight the elements once more. This evening my team and I have an outdoor farm wedding. We also have forecasts calling for severe storms and high winds thanks to Hurricane Irene.

I love my job but, I’m really not too thrilled about this. 

A word of advice: Always have a Plan B..and maybe a Plan C..just in case!

 I could never write my own vows. I’m really awful at saying how I feel (the over-thinking communications major in me perhaps?), my other half is excellent at it though! These vows are awesome. I wish Marshall and Lily were a real-life couple..haha
